Priesthood

All of us are on a path that leads us to become ‘Priests unto ourselves’ and to achieve ‘Self Mastery’. Once the veil is parted and we find ourselves gazing upon the Great Self there is no need for anything more. The rest all takes place in interior realms as we cross the threshold into that inner chamber and learn to live there. This process leading to Self Mastery is ongoing, the achievement of which is not a prerequisite for what we know as ‘Ordination’. It is possible for a non-ordained person to have greater Self Mastery and to have become a fuller Priest unto herself than one who is ordained.

For some there is an inner calling to actively participate in the Work of aiding in the evolution of earth and of humanity; to postpone their own return to the One until all of our brothers and sisters are able to make the journey with them. The Buddhists refer to these servant-souls as Bodhisattvas. We know these beings as The White Brotherhood. Some of these beings incarnate to help with The Work while most work from the ‘unseen planes’. How and why individuals are called to work in this way is a mystery. It is not a higher calling nor does it make anyone better than another. It makes them servants in a particular way.

The Priesthood has nothing whatsoever to do with religion. Not any religion. It does not depend on any corporate form. Nor is it a ‘step above’ anyone who has seen Self and realized themselves to be one with the Creator. What could possibly be higher than that realization?

The Priesthood, which has existed from the ‘beginning’ has manifested in and through various forms, organizations, mystery schools as well as in ways unknown to us. Priests always worked under the Lord of the Planet on which they incarnated. It is important to remember that the term ‘earth’ does not mean “Earth” as in our planet but describes the entire ‘physical’ realm of manifestation everywhere. Everything everywhere must be liberated from the ‘sleep of matter’. This is the function of the Priesthood, to work for that liberation.

Along with the calling to serve as a Priest comes the bag of tools that enables the Priest to effectively help with the Work of the White Brotherhood. These tools come with an awesome responsibility and are doled out as needed and as the Priest is ready to take on these deeper responsibilities. The use of the Word to ‘bind and to loose in heaven and in earth’ is the primary tool of today’s Priesthood. This is what allows the Transmutation of Communion to happen. The active conversion of matter into Light.

So is it necessary for this inner calling to the Priesthood to be somehow acknowledged through an earthly initiation or ceremony?

We are in physical bodies and the inner initiations have to be brought into the physical. I was made a Priest prior to my ordination. I knew it and so did others. But it wasn’t until the actual physical initiation that the inner reality of that Priesthood took place in this body in this lifetime. Can it happen without acting it out in the physical? I suspect so but it is like Illumination. The illumination first manifests in the Spiritual Body. We may become aware of the Light within. But there is something real and powerful that happens when the light is sealed in the physical body. That is where the Work of uniting Heaven and Earth takes place. The bringing together of the Spiritual and Physical bodies.

In my experience this same dynamic applies to Mastery. One is reviewed by the Host and is brought into yet another inner chamber. One is aware of this change and the ‘gifts of the Spirit’ that accompany it. But for me, it was after the inner reality of that change was acknowledged and was brought into the physical through the Ordination/Initiation that my experience of this new chamber of existence took on a reality I had not fully experienced before. I had my introduction to Mastery two years before the physical Initiation took place and was blown away by what had happened and by the worlds that the experience had opened up for me but still it was the physical Initiation that cemented it for me. “Earth as Witness” as in the Buddha’s story or as the Crucifixion of Christ who was attached to the Cross of Matter.

Having said all this, it is important to remember that all Initiations are just that, Initial Steps in a certain direction. It is still incumbent on the initiate to walk across each new threshold and to let the door swing shut behind her! In the same way that seeing Self is NOT the same as becoming Self, so it is with the Priesthood or Mastery. A ceremony alone does not a Priest or Master make.

Beautifully written, and very helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for this. And thank you for using the female pronoun in the last paragraph. Gender doesn’t matter, but it is “in matter” and when I read that I heard the door shutting behind me and felt it deep inside my soul. It makes me cry every time I read it.

Its my understanding that there is a multi-lifetime contract associated with priesthood. Places other than Earth?

    • Once a priest, always a priest. I think it works like a cell phone contract — every time you buy a new phone, they renew your contract for another two years. They’ve got it all worked out.
